SEOUL -- The South Korean carrier KT International, Seoul, hasawarded Siemens Information and Communication Networks (ICNetworks) a contract to supply its Surpass hiS signaling technology. The order covers delivery, installation, and startup. The systems being installed in Seoul and Pusan will serve as the gateway solution for international traffic. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of September this year. Surpass hiS 700 is to be used as a standalone Signaling Transfer Point (STP). This new Surpass order will allow Siemens to further consolidate its leading position in the Next Generation Networks (NGN) sector. The decisive factor that prompted the carrier to opt for Siemens’ Surpass technology was the cost-effectiveness of the solution coupled with its high-level signaling performance within a very small space and the established reliability of Siemens technology. Moreover, it will be possible to improve signaling services at the same time (call number portability, SMS services). Surpass hiS meets the requirements of both fixed network and mobile network operators.KT Corp.Siemens Information and Communications Networks Inc.
