Vyatta challenges proprietary vendors with mid-range, integrated enterprise networking appliances

  • Vyatta, the leader in Linux-based networking, today introduced the Vyatta Series 2500 Open Networking Appliances, a line of networking appliances designed to meet the connectivity, security, and protection demands of medium to large enterprises.

  • The Vyatta 2501, the first appliance available in the series, offers tightly integrated routing and security features, broad interface support up to 10 Gbps, and unmatched price, performance, and flexibility. In addition, the Vyatta 2501 includes:



    • The enterprise-class feature set of Vyatta Community Edition 4 Software (Routing, Firewall, VPN, VoIP QoS and more)

    • A multitude of LAN and WAN interface support options that include 10/100/1000 Mbps, 10 Gbps Ethernet, ADSL, T1/E1 and T3

    • Two onboard Gigabit Ethernet ports, one PCI-X expansion slot and one PCIe expansion slot to support additional connectivity

    • Configuration and management through Vyatta’s Fusion CLI that accepts both networking and Linux commands, as well as a web-based graphical user interface (GUI)

  • All Vyatta appliances come pre-installed with Vyatta’s open networking software and include the customer’s choice of service and support subscriptions.

  • Vyatta appliances give users the freedom to choose either the flexibility of Vyatta software subscriptions running on third-party hardware or the convenience of a pre-integrated solution with a single point of contact for all software or hardware issues.
