NEW YORK -- NTT America, a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com) and a global IP network services provider, today announced it has enhanced the capacity of its Global IP Network, one of the largest dedicated Internet backbone networks in the world, by installing Juniper Networks T1600 core multi-terabit routers. Compelling new applications such as IPTV and multiplay services have dramatically increased subscriber demand over the last year and have been instrumental in the decision to upgrade the backbone network.

“The T1600 provides us with a competitive advantage by improving network performance and creating more value for our customers, as well as meeting our commitment to protect the environment,” said Kazuhiro Gomi, CTO of NTT America and vice president of the NTT Com Global IP Network. “We were able to cut power consumption by as much as 20 percent and doubled the network capacity without any increase in datacenter space requirements.”
