Kabel Deutschland GmbH , Germany's largest MSO with 8.7 million subs, has selectedCisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO)'s CRS-3 routers for its next-gen IP core network. KDG already offers downstream speeds of 100Mbit/s via its Docsis 3.0 platform, but predicts that the coming CR-3-powered 100-Gig core network will get the MSO on the way to providing 1Gbit/s Internet connections to customers.
Arris Group Inc. (Nasdaq: ARRS) has sold offElectronic Connector Corp. (ECCO) to Eclipse Embedded Technologies for an undisclosed sum. ECCO, a Chicago-based unit that's tended to take a backseat to Arris's flagship cable gear, makes "niche" electronic connectors and accessories for OEMs and distributors. ECCO was founded in 1963.
