SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Redback Networks Inc., (NASDAQ: RBAK) theleading provider of advanced networking solutions, today expanded itspresence in the metropolitan optical marketplace with the Redback®SmartEdge 100. Optimized for deployment in smaller central offices (COs)and multi-tenant units (MTUs), the SmartEdge 100 is a powerful multi-serviceoptical networking platform that will provide extensive time divisionmultiplexing (TDM) capabilities and packet-based data servicessimultaneously. With a lower price point and smaller footprint, theSmartEdge 100 enables inter-exchange carriers (IXCs), traditional localexchange carriers (LEC) and competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) toimprove the economics of their optical metro networks.
