Proximion Presents Prototype

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Optical Fiber Communication 2001 is one of the largest and most important trade shows within the optical fiber sector. Over 30,000 visitors and 975 participating companies are expected. Among the exhibitors are companies such as Alcatel, Cisco, Lucent and JDS Uniphase. Proximion focuses on products for fiber optic networks, in the same market sector as the Swedish companies Altitun and Queyton, both sold to major US companies (ADC and Cisco) for several million dollars. Market turnover within the sector is expected to reach approximately 4 billion dollars during 2004.

The product that Proximion is now demonstrating for selected customers is a function prototype of WISTOM, a monitoring device for fiber optic networks. Its unique design integrates several different characteristics that have previously been impracticable to combine in one and the same device. WISTOM makes it possible to quickly determine when a fault occurs (within 10 milliseconds) so that no information is lost, and at the same time, prevents faults by diagnosing the entire spectrum of channels in advanced fiber optic networks. During the summer, a more advanced function prototype will be distributed, a so-called engineering sample. Members of the press are welcome at Proximion's booth, number E4204.
