Nokia's New Toy

5:35 PM -- SAN FRANCISCO -- At Web 2.0 Expo, I got to see and play with a Nokia Corp. (NYSE: NOK) N810 tablet computer, which got launched back in November.

Here's a shot of the thing, and you can also see it in our Expo Slide Show. Both photos were taken by David Paul Morris/Getty Images.

It's hard not to compare it to an iPhone, especially since it's got a touchscreen. It's really a stylus-driven tablet, though, and doesn't have the iPhone's multitouch interface.

Nokia was mainly talking about the N810's WiMax connectivity, which got launched at CTIA.

Problem is, there's no WiMax at San Francisco's Moscone Center. So, the N810 got to ride on the same overcrowded WiFi network as everyone else's demos. That made it slow and clunky. About all I did was load up the tablet's home page, which had been set to the Sprint Corp. (NYSE: S) XOHM Website.
