Nokia Unveils Music Phones

Nokia Corp. (NYSE: NOK) wants users to ditch their iPods or digital music players, and, to that end, it has announced three music-centric phones in its XpressMusic line.

With a horizontal slide-out QWERTY keyboard, the 5730 XpressMusic has a similar form factor as the E75. The home screen has multiple one-click icons to launch applications like Ovi Maps, Facebook, music players, and the company's N-Gage gaming platform. The handset has a built-in FM radio and is compatible with the Comes With Music service, which gives users unlimited access to a large catalog of music with digital-rights management.

"We've sold more than 425 million devices with a digital music player and more than 700 million devices with an FM radio, which clearly shows that the mobile phone is the natural device for listening to the music and carrying it with you," said Jo Harlow, Nokia's device manager, in a statement.
