UTICA, N.Y. –- NetTest, a leading worldwide provider of testing, monitoring and management solutions for advanced and converged networks, today announced that its Tunics Reference is now capable of allowing users to monitor the tunable laser source by IEEE-488.2, RS 232, by Ethernet interfaces or simply via an oscilloscope.

NetTest’s Tunics Reference allows labs and manufacturers to modulate and monitor the laser source in various ways, adapting to their applications, all while utilizing only one piece of equipment. Applications could include but are not limited to: Raman amplifier design, EDFA testing, optical component or fiber characterization, CD measurement, or long term testing such as thin-film growth monitoring and spectroscopy.

The NetTest Tunics Reference features a record tuning range of 160nm at 0 dB output power and 100nm at 10 dBm output power, outstanding 2pm typical wavelength accuracy (5pm absolute) and fast sweeping in mode hop free operation. The Tunics Reference is available in 3 models covering wavelengths from 1390nm to 1650nm. It is part of the NetTest Tunics family which is comprised of the Tunics Plus, the well-known standard TLS and the Tunics Purity, the unique true ASE noise free laser source.
