NetScreen Debuts Security System

HANNOVER, Germany - (March 13, 2002) NetScreen Technologies, Inc.
(Nasdaq: NSCN), a leading developer of ASIC-based Internet security
systems and appliances, today announced an optimized integrated security
system to handle current and near-term GPRS requirements for high-speed
mobile data network operators. Leading mobile systems supplier Ericsson
has included NetScreen’s security solution as part of its mobile packet
backbone network solutions for GPRS networks.
Mobile operators are looking to deploy next-generation wireless
infrastructures to allow their customers to surf the web and connect to
corporate intranets as easily as they make a mobile phone call. Mobile
operators must secure these new networks in order to have customers
confidently utilize them, whether the user is on a carrier’s home network
or roaming on a different network.
“We’ve been able to match up our industry leading security with industry
leading GPRS/GSM infrastructure products,” said David Flynn, NetScreen
vice president of marketing. “This new solution takes advantage of the
high performance of our security systems, and through our relationship
with Ericsson, we’ve been able to optimize the NetScreen-500 to meet the
particular needs of mobile carriers.”
