SAN JOSE, Calif. -- NetScaler, Inc., the global leader in high-performance application delivery systems, today announced that United Airlines has selected NetScaler to accelerate the performance of secure, mission-critical business applications. With this selection, NetScaler officially passed the 400 customer milestone, which more than doubled the company's worldwide installed base over the past 12 months. The most significant growth came from enterprise customers like United Airlines, which combined to represent approximately 70 percent of NetScaler's new customer acquisitions in 2004. This milestone also comes on the heels of a new report from Gartner which ranks NetScaler among the top three worldwide revenue leaders in the rapidly growing market for Advanced Application Acceleration Equipment. Growth in this market, according to Gartner, is being driven by innovators like NetScaler who are taking market share from the traditional load balancing and content switching vendors.

NetScaler initially gained widespread recognition for its success in accelerating some of the most high-profile, and highly trafficked, sites on the Internet. As a result, four of the top five e-businesses in the world now rely on NetScaler to accelerate tens of millions of user transactions a day. Today, Fortune 1000 companies across all industry segments are increasingly turning to NetScaler to bring this same benefit to a wide variety of enterprise applications, accelerating performance as well as managing traditional load balancing and application security requirements. Deploying NetScaler's high-performance application delivery systems in front of enterprise data centers has been shown to accelerate the performance of custom web applications as well as enterprise applications like Oracle, PeopleSoft, Siebel, SAP and Microsoft Exchange by up to 5 times.

"NetScaler's record growth in the enterprise market has been fueled by several converging trends," said B.V. Jagadeesh, president and CEO, NetScaler. "To begin with, companies continue to extend the reach of mission-critical applications to global employees, partners and customers in record numbers. At the same time, however, they are facing considerable pressure to both ensure the security of all application traffic, and to reduce costs by consolidating data center equipment. The NetScaler value proposition perfectly complements these critical business drivers with a solution that pays for itself almost immediately."
