MADRID, Spain -- Netintact, Swedish leader in Traffic Management and exhibitor at Broadband World Forum, launches version 10 of PacketLogic Generation 2 (PL2). The new version, PL2v10, meets the requirements concerning construction, functionality and capacity stipulated by the Tier 1 broadband operators around the world.

Easier reporting with new statistics functionalities and automization

PL2v10 includes a new version of PacketLogic Statistics. Most of the new functionalities are to be found in the Statistics module. The increased need for traffic analysis stems from recent events such as terrorism and internet frauds resulting in governmental actions with new laws on information reporting. Police and authorities have higher demands on Internet Service Providers (ISP) who are required to be able to provide information in crime investigations and assist in the fight against abuse and viruses having a negative effect on the traffic.

“Traffic Management and Service Provisioning has more or less become a standard in ISP networks. This is to ensure quality of service (QoS), security, early indication on potential problems or threats and to be able to evaluate efficiency and results,” says Sven Nowicki, CEO at Netintact AB. “With PL2v10 we are prepared to meet new demands on functionality as well as capacity. This makes us the market leader within the high-end segment of Traffic Management.”

Change of platforms provide higher capacity

PL2v10 brings an increase in capacity of more than 800 % compared to when PL2 was launched, thanks to development of the kernel and the operating system. Netintact also switches to a new hardware platform in conjunction with the launch of PL2v10 which has substantially contributed to the increased capacity.

“PL2v10 is a milestone in the development of PacketLogic and brings us to the next level concerning capacity. The development is a direct response to demands from some of the leading broadband operators,” says Alexander Haväng, CTO at Netintact.

New topology for central administration

The PacketLogic Management System, the central administration system, also encompasses the rule system. The rule system directs the traffic in PacketLogic Rule Systems (PLR). The construction simplifies the administration of multiple PacketLogics operating in the same complex network. It leads to an efficient use of each system being able to operate at a maximum level which also leads to optimal cost efficiency.
