SINGAPORE -- Verizon Business has further enhanced its global Private IP footprint to support the evolving data needs of its global customer base. The company has added a significant number of Private IP nodes in key markets across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific, and has also enhanced Ethernet access capabilities in Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.

As a result, customers can now, more than ever, benefit from a direct and secure, cost-efficient link to the Verizon Business global multiprotocol-label-switching (MPLS) network, the foundation for Verizon Business' portfolio of next-generation products and services.

Verizon Business is continuing to invest in its global Private IP network, which provides the foundation for optimizing business processes between companies, including solutions like e-commerce, immersive video and global mobility, allowing customers to optimize the cost of running their global business. Based on MPLS technology, Verizon Private IP is a network-based, virtual private network (VPN) that offers customers secure, scalable and flexible network connections with integrated performance and traffic-management capabilities.

New Verizon Private IP nodes have now been established in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (Capetown, Casablanca, Dubai, Istanbul, Reykjavik and St. Petersburg), and Asia-Pacific (Bangalore, Bangkok, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Jakarta, Karachi, Lahore, Mumbai and Taipei). New partnerships have been set up to extend in country coverage in China, Japan, Poland and Saudi Arabia. Verizon Private IP nodes are now available to customers in 146 global markets, with expansion in progress, in particular to enhance diversity options in key individual locations.

Verizon Business has deployed a technologically advanced network configuration in Singapore, one of the largest financial centers in South Asia, giving large-business and government customers significantly enhanced reliability for customer voice-and-data traffic and more diverse routes to move mission-critical traffic.

The network architecture, called meshing, provides additional network paths for rerouting traffic in the event of a cable cut or other network disruption. This Singapore expansion complements the Pacific mesh network deployment the company began in 2007.

Verizon Business deployed a seven-way mesh network across the Pacific Ocean, using the newly activated Trans-Pacific Express cable network and other submarine cables. The Pacific mesh network now extends from Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea to Japan and the United States.

The Pacific mesh design provides seven paths of diverse capacity, offering automatic restoration and real-time management of voice and data traffic on the Pacific undersea cable routes of Verizon Business' global network. The seven paths that constitute the mesh provide predictable latency -- that is, the time it takes for data sent from its entry point in the network to reach its destination -- in the event of a network disruption, something that is particularly important to business customers today.

"This mesh network design allows our multinational customers to continue receiving the high-quality network performance and reliability they expect from Verizon Business," said Ihab Tarazi, vice president of global network planning. "We have seen a dramatic improvement in our overall network performance since we introduced meshing. Our Pacific mesh network is operating at 99.999 percent of network availability, and this is important to our large global financial customers."
