craig, love how you don't want to hand over control of the mic (watch your hand kinda wait and then move away in slo-mo)!!

also, how tall is this guy? 7'?

Craig,

Maybe you should talk to the person who penned this article?

You know what, Seven... during Shankar's keynote, when he said "Raise your hand if you're using GMPLS on your optical network," Glenn Wellbrock (Verizon) was one of the people giving that wavy-hand "meh, sort of" gesture.

I've begun to wonder if most carriers deploying GMPLS ended up disappointed in it. I do have at least one (vendor) source asking for a chance to state the opposing case. Would love to talk to any carriers who think they've gotten more out of GMPLS.

Odo - I know, I know! It's my first time using the handheld mic. Didn't expect to have to share it!

Anybody who's taller than about 5'10" looks like 7' to me. So, yeah, Shankar's about 7' tall.  :)

I had another recent interview with someone even taller. We had to do it seated because it was just uncomfortable looking when we stood and talked. These are the kinds of things you don't consider when you go into a career in PRINT journalism.

Hi Craig,

See slide 11 of the following OIF presentation which lists carrier deployments of optical control planes, includes networks in AT&T, NTT and VZ.

Presented at OFC 2010.

FYI,

Joe
