Motorola Xooms Out Next Month

4:20 PM -- There were literally a hundred tablets introduced at International CES , but Motorola Mobility LLC 's Xoom has easily been the most hotly anticipated. Consumers won't be waiting much longer though. According to a leak from Best Buy, the Xoom will go sale on Feb. 17. Before you get too excited, know that the tablet will set you back $700 to $799, depending on which leak you believe. The price seems high, but was to be expected given that it's competing with and has similar specs to the iPad.

You'll get some impressive specs for your money too, including the dual-core Tegra 2 processor, Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system, 32GB of on-board flash storage and 3G support that is upgradable to 4G. (See Qualcomm, Nvidia Face Off in the Core.)

Light Reading Mobile is tuning in to Moto Mobility's first earnings later this afternoon. Check back to the blog comments for updates and to the site for analysis afterward.

Not the exact date, but Sanjay Jha says the Atrix and 3G Xoom will ship by the end of February. The LTE version of Xoom and Bionic 4G will come in the second quarter of the year.
