Moto Bouncing Symbian

10:30 AM -- Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT)'s ditching of Symbian Ltd. this morning in favor of the untested Android and Windows Mobile platforms brings to mind a certain AC/DC song.

If you parse what Moto is saying, they won't actually have an Android device on the market until this time next year at the earliest. That's three quarters of 2009 before Android. (See Moto Ditches Symbian for Android & Windows.)

Nine months or so is a long time to be relying on Windows Mobile to carry your high-end. It isn't as if the Motorola Q set the world alight. (See Motorola's Euro Q.) That said, Motorola's latest Symbian efforts haven't captured the imagination eiher. (See Moto's Media Monster .)
