PARIS -- Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) today announced that it has been selected by Mobistar (EURONEXT BRUSSELS: MOBB), the second largest mobile operator in Belgium, as the partner for the rollout of Mobistar's broadband DSL infrastructure. This move is part of Mobistar's decision to shift from a purely mobile operator to a fully convergent ISP, offering the same basic set of broadband services over a mobile as well as a fixed network to its subscribers.

Alcatel's solution for Mobistar is based on its 7301 Advanced Services Access Manager, the world's most widely deployed DSL platform, managed by the Alcatel 5523 ADSL Work Station (AWS), and the Alcatel 5530 Network Analyzer, an advanced diagnostic software tool designed to analyze the DSL network conditions to ensure the successful deployment of value-added broadband services, as well as maintenance services.
