Mobile TV Bid Blues

6:30 AM -- The German mobile operator joint venture of T-Mobile International AG , Telefónica O2 Germany GmbH & Co. OHG , and Vodafone Germany has lost its bid to run a national DVB-H mobile TV platform. Instead, Germany's local broadcast agencies will award the license to Mobile 3.0, a joint venture between rival mobile TV operators Neva Media and MFD (Mobiles Fernsehen Deutschland GmbH). Separately, the German regulator Bundesnetzagentur (BNetzA) awarded the license to build and operate the DVB-H transmission network to the media and broadcast unit of Deutsche Telekom AG (NYSE: DT)'s subsidiary T-Systems International GmbH The regulator wants the first mobile TV transmissions in time for the über telecom and IT trade show CeBIT in Hannover in March next year.
