Microsoft to Upstage Apple

10:10 AM -- Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT)'s Steve Ballmer plans to introduce a tablet device during his keynote speech today at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, The New York Times reports.

Introducing the device mere weeks ahead of when Apple will supposedly unveil its much-touted iSlate tablet device is "one of Steve Ballmer’s riskiest trade show moves in years," NYT says.

Microsoft's tablet, which is reportedly called the "Courier" and designed like a notebook, will be made by HP Inc. (NYSE: HPQ) and possibly available by mid 2010.
