VIENNA, Va. -- Telarix, Inc., the leading provider of Interconnect Business Optimization software, today announced that MCI (NASDAQ: MCIP) has completed the first two phases of a multi-phase deployment of Telarix’s iXTools to manage its international interconnect business and enhance its ability to efficiently and more cost-effectively route calls across its global network.

Telarix’s flagship product, iXTools, is a suite of software modules that gathers interconnect business event and service transaction data, including call detail records (CDRs), rate offers, quality, and capacity information. This data is enhanced, stored, and made available to network managers through a highly-accessible interface.

With the decision to implement iXTools in its network, MCI improves its ability to terminate global international traffic to the most cost-efficient and effective switching routes available. The system manages traffic flows to and from MCI-owned networks as well as external service providers’ networks in near real time.

“Working with Telarix allows MCI to focus on quality of service and improve efficiency of network routing,” said Ihab Tarazi, vice president, MCI Access and International Network Engineering. “With the growth in the number of international carriers, the emergence of new services and the resulting code expansions, it is important for MCI to deploy forward-looking information technology solutions to automate and optimize operational processes.”

“iXTools is a proven, reliable, carrier-grade solution that scales to MCI’s complex operations and high global traffic volumes,” stated Amir Yazdanpanah, CEO of Telarix. “With iXTools in place, MCI can more effectively capture rate changes and more efficiently route traffic. This is a great opportunity for Telarix and MCI to optimize the company’s international traffic operations.”
