Stefan Kindt appointed as managing director for Marconi Germany, taking over the role from Jürgen Beer, who is retiring

LONDON and BACKNANG, Germany -- Marconi Corporation plc (London: MONI) announces that Jürgen Beer, who has been Managing Director of Marconi Communications GmbH since 1 February 2000, is retiring on 31 October 2003. The new Managing Director will be Stefan Kindt who will take up his responsibilities immediately. Jürgen Beer will remain chairman of the Management Board until his retirement.

Stefan joined Marconi in June 2000 and has worked most recently as vice president for Optical Networks Product Strategy, he was until this appointment a member of the German supervisory board. Stefan came to Marconi from Siemens AG in Munich where he had performed a number of senior roles for the company since 1984, most recently as president of worldwide sales for the Optical Networks Division. Stefan was born near Berlin, is married and has three children.
