SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- LuxN, Inc., a provider of multi-service, intelligent, metropolitan optical access network platforms, today announced the LuxN Optical Service Level Management System (OSLM). LuxN OSLM enables service providers to deploy and manage services cost-effectively while maintaining a high level of reliability. With general availability of the LuxN OSLM, will be expected in September of 2001. Currently, service providers have limited or no tools to maintain and manage service level agreements for dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) services to end- customers. With real-time, in-service-Bit Error Rate (BER) monitoring through LuxN's proprietary ColourSIM technology and a comprehensive Graphical User Interface, service providers will be able to create and manage individualized, protocol-independent Service Level Agreements (SLAs) at the physical layer. A wavelength-specific, user-settable threshold allows service providers to offer different SLAs per customer, sub-network, service, link, or wavelength. Service providers will be able to use this tool to generate advance warnings of potential SLA violations, allowing operators sufficient time to arrest further degradation of service. "The LuxN OSLM technology is unique in the industry and enables us to provide unique services to our customers," said Dr. Kamran Sistanizadeh, chief technology officer of Yipes Communications. "With the ability to monitor and predict any degradation of service, Yipes is secure in its network reliability. We are impressed with the quality of service the LuxN OSLM provides and we look forward to future products developed by LuxN." LuxN Inc.
