MURRAY HILL, N.J. -- Lucent Technologies today announced a series of executive changes to enhance its turnaround and restructuring efforts. Frank D'Amelio, 43, formerly group president of Lucent's Switching Solutions Group, has been appointed chief financial officer (CFO), succeeding Deborah Hopkins, 46, who is leaving the company to pursue other opportunities. D'Amelio has held a variety of financial positions in AT&T and Lucent, including the role of CFO of Lucent's Network Systems business from 1996 to 1998 before moving to an operational job in the business.

In addition, Janet Davidson, 44, formerly Lucent's group president of InterNetworking Systems, has assumed responsibility for the newly-combined Switching Solutions and InterNetworking Systems Group.

As the company streamlines its operations and improves efficiencies, it is also placing the Chief Information Officer organization and the Business Services group under Bob Holder, executive vice president, who oversees the product units, manufacturing and supply chain management. Lucent announced that Larry Kittelberger, senior vice president and chief information officer, and Jim Lusk, senior vice president of Business Services responsible for managing critical financial processes like asset management and customer ordering, will report to Holder.
