MURRAY HILL, N.J. -- Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) today named Ruth E. Bruch as senior vice president and chief information officer (CIO), effective May 15, 2002. Bruch, 48, will be responsible for operation of the company's information systems infrastructure, including global communications systems, corporate networks and e-business platforms. Her initial focus will be on continuing the re-engineering of Lucent's information systems and the implementation of an SAP enterprise software platform for the business. Bruch most recently served as vice president and CIO of Visteon Corporation, one of the world's largest automotive suppliers, where she led an effort to replace the company's legacy information systems. She will report directly to Bob Holder, Lucent Technologies' chief operating officer. "Ruth brings a great blend of technical knowledge, strategic vision and re-engineering experience to Lucent," said Holder. "She has a track record of implementing large-scale, complex IT strategies across global organizations. At Lucent, she will be instrumental in helping us continue the system improvements and cost-reduction efforts we have underway." Bruch replaces Larry Kittelberger, who was Lucent's CIO until leaving last July to join Honeywell International. Lucent Technologies Inc.
