SAN DIEGO -- LightPointe, an innovator, designer and manufacturer of optical transmission equipment using Free-Space Optics (FSO) technology, today announced its FlightLite-G(TM) at the NetWorld+Interop show in Las Vegas, Nevada. FlightLite-G is the market's first FSO product specifically designed for enterprise customers who require gigabit Ethernet connectivity for Local Area Networks. The FlightLite-G is a continuation of LightPointe's successful FlightLite(TM) product line, which provides the ultimate price-per-bit solutions and has set the industry benchmark for enterprise FSO equipment performance. The first commercially available FlightLite-G will begin shipping in June. The product provides 1.25 Gbps of wireless optical connectivity at distances up to 300 meters. "The FlightLite-G is the right choice enterprises seeking license-free, full-duplex Gig-E connectivity without trenching fiber-optic cable or signing long-term lease contracts with local carriers," said John Griffin, LightPointe President and Chief Executive Officer. "Our entire FlightLite product line has been well received around the world by enterprise network operators requiring optical connectivity without the traditional associated costs and financial hurdles."
