HANOVER, Germany -- LambdaNet Communications, a European provider of telecommunications and Internet services, has signed an agreement covering a period of 12 months with TV broadcaster RTL Television for the provision of IP/MPLS data links connecting up RTL Nord’s studios and RTL’s broadcasting center in Cologne.

The regional company RTL Nord produces Guten Abend RTL, a local magazine television show, and supplies reports for RTL newscasts. The IP/MPLS-based data communication service to be supplied by LambdaNet (based on its LambdaNet-Data-Link product) will enable the TV broadcaster to transfer video material created for regional news reports between the RTL Nord regional studios in Kiel, Hanover and Bremen, the RTL Studio Nord in Hamburg, and the broadcasting center in Cologne with a high level of data integrity and at flexible transmission rates.

LambdaNet offers this network solution with bandwidths between 2 Mbit/s and 1 Gbit/s. RTL has opted for a usage-based tariff, meaning that the TV broadcaster will only be invoiced for the actual transmission capacity used. LambdaNet-Data-Link provides a cost-efficient and effective means of further extending RTL’s nationwide video transmission capabilities.
