PARIS -- Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) today announced that it hassigned a contract with KPN for the delivery of its recently launched Alcatel 5530 Network Analyzer inorder to facilitate the delivery of higher bandwidth services and increase customer loyalty by offeringa very stable broadband access service.

Alcatel announced the availability of the 5530 Network Analyzer last month. It enables serviceproviders to manage their digital subscriber line (DSL) access infrastructure in order to meet nextgeneration broadband service requirements. The 5530 Network Analyzer is an on-demanddiagnostic tool that detects line quality issues, bandwidth limitations, transient stability issues andequipment failures, which are very important to ensure the successful deployment of value-addedbroadband services. This translates into faster time-to-market, guaranteed service delivery, lowerlevels of customer complaints and improved customer satisfaction.

KPN has seen a robust broadband subscriber growth over the past few years. As demand surges, activation automation and service assurance functions become key to support millions of neworders. Also, the introduction of new services combining video, voice and data are driving the needto have more direct control of the broadband network.

“It is our goal to remain innovators in the broadband space, which is why developing new productsis key. But new products are only relevant to our business if they also catch the interest of thecustomer and prove valuable to the market, which is clearly the case for the 5530 NetworkAnalyzer,” comments Michel Rahier, chief operating officer of Alcatel’s fixed communicationsactivities. “It provides the perfect tool for network analysis and diagnosis, which is based on Alcatel’slong term worldwide experience in access networks.”
