SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:JNPR - News) today announced it has been chosen to build an advanced network for the Government Information Centre in China's Jiangxi Province. The new network will enable Jiangxi Information Centre to offer feature-rich, high-performance, MPLS-based VPN services. It will offer additional security as well as superior connectivity and outstanding quality of service (QoS).

"Security was naturally a significant concern for us, and the Jiangxi Provincial Government was keen to ensure complete security on the internal network and across the external network. Before this deployment of Juniper Networks solutions, that required a lot of management," said Xu Yigeng, deputy director of the Jiangxi Provincial Government Information Centre. "Now, the MPLS-based VPN has taken over much of that administration, removing a major burden and enabling us to concentrate on other matters."

The network will be based on solutions from Juniper Networks M-series router portfolio, which uniquely combine best-in-class IP routing and MPLS capabilities with unmatched dependability, security, and IP service richness. The core of the Jiangxi Provincial Government Information Centre will be based on Juniper Networks M20 platform, which is ideal for edge applications involving the aggregation of dedicated access circuits.

The Centre will also use Juniper Networks M5 platform, the optimum solution for both edge and core applications in locations where space and power are at a premium, such as smaller metro POPs, to form a metropolitan network.

"Juniper Networks M-series routers and the JUNOS operating system have become the solid foundation upon which network service providers and information-intensive enterprises have deployed a wide range of edge and core services," said Eric Yu, vice president, Greater China, Juniper Networks. "This track record, coupled with outstanding performance, were compelling arguments and persuaded the Jiangxi Provincial Government that Juniper Networks was the right choice as a technology partner for its new Information Centre Network."
