DENVER and PARIS -- Wanadoo, Europe's largest provider of Internet solutions, announced today that its Livecom integrated voice, video, and chat service has deployed the Jabber Extensible Communications Platform (Jabber XCP). For Livecom, Jabber XCP serves as its core presence, subscriber management, and multi-media routing technology. According to Wanadoo, Jabber XCP enables Wanadoo to bridge multiple protocols and integrate numerous services to deliver a rich multi-media experience for their subscribers. Additionally, Jabber XCP provides Wanadoo with a highly extensible service delivery framework for ongoing service innovation.

"Jabber XCP is the core infrastructure of our Livecom service," said Patrick Puges, chief technology officer for Wanadoo. "By using Jabber XCP to administer user presence, manage subscribers, and negotiate user connections, we are able to bridge multiple protocols and services. This allows us to meet convergence and interoperability expectations of our own broadband customers, Voila portal users, Orange mobile instant messaging (IM) subscribers, and eventually the subscribers of any other chat communities with which we interoperate."

Jabber XCP is Jabber, Inc.'s flagship presence and messaging server, supporting all standards based messaging and presence protocols including Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP), Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) for Instant Messaging and Presence Leveraging Extensions (SIMPLE), and Instant Messaging and Presence Services (IMPS) defined by the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA). Jabber XCP is currently deployed by many of the world's leading enterprises and mobile/fixed operators, counting more than seven million users worldwide.

"We have been working with Wanadoo for several years, initially on their core IM capabilities and the Voila portal, and more recently on the Livecom service," said Tony Bamonti, president of Jabber Telecom. "The successful deployment of Livecom represents a significant milestone in Jabber, Inc.'s collaboration with Wanadoo as they grow their extensive user community and add additional presence-enabled and converged services."
