CALABASAS, Calif. -- Ixia (Nasdaq: XXIA), a leading provider of high-speed, multiport network performance analysis systems, announced today a total of seven new products encompassing a wide range of capabilities.

Three new hardware products were released, including the OLM1000STXS24 Ethernet Load Module, ATM Load Module, and the LM10GULF 10 Gigabit Ethernet UniPHY Load Module. At the same time, four new software products were also released: IxSAN, IxGGSN, IxAuthenticate, and Ixia's Virtual Network Interface Card (VNIC).

"The innovation engine at Ixia is hard at work," said Josh Goldstein, Director of Product Management for Ixia. "These new products introduce several testing capabilities to the market for the first time, and continue to show Ixia's leadership and responsiveness to the needs of our customers."

OLM1000STXS24 Ethernet Load Module
Developed for Ixia's Optixia Performance Validation System, the OLM1000STXS24 Ethernet Load Module delivers full Layer 2-7 testing capabilities. The OLM1000STXS24, which recently won the Best of Interop Award in the Network Test and Measurement Category, delivers 24 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet test ports, each with Ixia's unique Dual-PHYTM technology. This Dual-PHYTM technology provides a copper RJ-45 jack and an SFP optical transceiver socket for each test port, eliminating the need to purchase separate test hardware for each interface type.

LMATM622MR Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) Load Module
The LMATM622MR Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) Load Module operating at user-selectable speeds of OC-3 or OC-12 is a two-port Load Module, which is ideal for validation of broadband access devices and routers with ATM interfaces. Ixia's IxAccess PPPoX test suite has been enhanced to take advantage of this new hardware platform. The LMATM622MR marks Ixia's entry into the ATM performance validation arena and augments the company's existing Ethernet and SONET product lines.

LM10GULF
The third new hardware product is the LM10GULF 10 Gigabit Ethernet UniPHY Load Module. This Load Modules combines the test functions for OC-192 Packet over SONET (POS), OC-192 Bit Error Rate Testing (BERT), 10 Gigabit Ethernet LAN, and 10 Gigabit Ethernet WAN onto a single test interface. The LM10GULF helps save money and rack space by eliminating the need to purchase separate interfaces for each PHY standard. This new Load Module complements Ixia's leading 10 Gigabit Ethernet product line, which also includes solutions for XAUI and XENPAK performance validation.

In addition to these new hardware products, Ixia is also announcing four new software test suites. All four new test suites run on Ixia's popular TXS series of Ethernet Load Modules, featuring independent wire-speed FPGA-based traffic generation and a RISC CPU for each test port.

IxSAN
The first new test suite, IxSAN, is an iSCSI performance validation tool. IxSAN is able to emulate multiple iSCSI initiators and targets and is the first iSCSI performance tester on the market.

IxGGSN
The second new test suite, IxGGSN, is used to validate the performance and scalability of Gateway GPRS Switching Nodes (GGSNs), which are used to enable data services over next-generation cellular telephone networks. Manufacturers of GGSN products and wireless carriers can use IxGGSN to simulate millions of mobile sessions (PDP contexts) and hundreds of thousands of PDP activations per second to test the mobile web infrastructure under load prior to deployment. Multiple user profiles may be created and real-world traffic generation is supported over the emulated sessions.

IxAuthenticate
IxAuthenticate helps switch manufacturers validate the operation of 802.1x port-based authentication. The application uses the 802.1x protocol to authorize supplicants prior to transmitting traffic. Single-host, Multiple-host single authentication, and Multiple-host multiple authentications are supported using MD5 or TLS authentication schemes. Each test port can emulate up to 64 supplicants and a full Tcl API allows integrated testing with other Ixia applications.

Ixia's Virtual Network Interface Card (VNIC)
The fourth new software introduction is Ixia's Virtual Network Interface Card (VNIC). The VNIC makes it possible to send traffic created by any Linux PC through any Ixia Load Module port with a port-CPU. Ixia's first application of the VNIC technology is in conjunction with existing ANVL conformance test suites. Prior to Ixia's VNIC, conformance testing could only be carried out on interfaces supported in off-the-shelf PCs, such as 10/100 and Gigabit Ethernet, and OC-3 ATM. Using the VNIC software, ANVL can now be run on high-speed Ixia interfaces, such as 10 Gigabit Ethernet, making conformance testing for these interfaces not only possible, but simple. The entire range of ANVL test suites is compatible with the VNIC software.
