WASHINGTON -- Ixia (Nasdaq: XXIA), a leading provider of high-speed, multiport network performance analysis systems, announced today the addition of a number of routing protocols to further enhance its comprehensive performance test suites. Ixia now offers support for IPv4 and IPv6 Routing (BGP, OSPF, ISIS, and RIP), MPLS Signaling protocols (LDP and RSVP-TE), L2 (Martini draft), VPLS (Lasserre draft), L3 (RFC 2547bis) VPNs, and Multicast protocols (IGMP, MLD, and PIM-SM). "Our new routing protocol test suites provide our customers with the industry's most comprehensive set of tools for sophisticated performance, protocol emulation and analysis," said Tony De La Rosa, routing protocol product manager for Ixia. "Ixia's routing protocol solutions are designed with automation in mind. The powerful combination of our Tcl APIs and ScriptGen, our automated script generation utility make it possible for our customers to integrate Ixia's routing protocols within their own automated scripts, which significantly reduces testing development time and cost." Ixia's routing protocol emulation tools greatly increase testing scalability by allowing users to create realistic test scenarios that simulate large-scale, deployed networks. This scalability is made possible by Ixia's family of CPU-based traffic generation load modules that feature a processor per port, running the Linux operating system, allowing users to run multiple protocol emulations simultaneously on a single port. This unique feature enables the simulation of such intricate technologies as Layer 2 (L2) and Layer 3 (L3) VPNs. In this way, less hardware is required, significantly decreasing testing expenditures, while at the same time dramatically expanding testing resources. Ixia
