It's Only a Phone

5:50 PM -- It is quite amazing to me how in-depth people are getting online about strategies to beat the crowds getting a new iPhone. You have to get the 3G model activated by AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) in-store, so many are anticipating massive lines at the operator's stores. Don't get me wrong, I like my gadgets and gizmos as much as the next person but you won't catch me waiting in a line on the 11th. The 3G iPhone is, after all, just a phone. I'll soldier on with my current model for a little while longer rather than get hot 'n' bothered on a New York sidewalk for hours just to get some temporary geek bragging rights.

The best way to avoid iPhone lines on the 11th? Don't go and queue in the first place. (See 10 Reasons to Keep Your Old iPhone.)

re: It's Only a Phone Dan Jones - he "got a life"!

That sets you apart from the crowd, old son (along with the hat collection and penchant for apple-based cocktails, of course...)

Ray (who won't be near any sort of line on the 11th or any other day)

re: It's Only a Phone It is worth remembering that it is just a phone. My wife just heard of the 2G iPhone for the first time last week.

She just now asked me what it is (and didnGÇÖt stick around for an answer).

I kind of assumed everyone knew about it, but clearly not.
