It's Not Sprint's Fault

9:35 AM -- Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU) CEO Pat Russo would not condescend to join the latest craze of blaming Sprint Corp. (NYSE: S) for its financial performance today. (See It's All Sprint's Fault and AlcaLu Posts Loss, Warns on Full Year.)

When asked whether AlcaLu shared Tellabs Inc. (Nasdaq: TLAB; Frankfurt: BTLA)'s concerns about Sprint on today's first quarter earnings call, Russo said: "We make it a habit and policy not to comment on specific customers. Sprint is a large and important customer and they're working through some of the issues they've been clear about. They see their CDMA network as an important asset. What they do with their level of spending is for you to ask them about." (See Wireless Slowdown Hits Tellabs and Tellabs Issues Profit Warning.)
