iPhone vs Led Zeppelin

8:00 am -- Here's a question out of left field for y'all: Which is the most popular, the iPhone or legendary heavy rock group Led Zeppelin?

The answer, according to Telefónica UK Ltd. CEO Matthew Key, is the iconic new Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) device, which will hit the British high street on November 9. (See Jobs Leads iPhone Into UK, Slideshow: iPhone Hits London , and iPhone UK Launch: Jobs Has 'Upset Girlfriends'.)

At a press conference in London Tuesday, Key noted that he had been deluged with requests for tickets (cover price, $250 each) to Led Zeppelin's reunion concert at London's O2 Arena (formerly known as the Millenium Dome) on November 26.

Apparently, this gig is a big deal for anyone who ever indulged in head-banging and thought the lyrics to Stairway to Heaven were meaningful.

But Key's mobile has been even busier since talk of the Apple/iPhone relationship emerged. "More people have asked for an iPhone than for Led Zeppelin tickets," noted O2's Mr. Popular.

EuroBlog has put its request in for an iPhone. Jimmy Page doesn't do anything for us.
