iPhone Price Cut

12:25 PM -- Telefónica UK Ltd. is slashing the price of the Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) iPhone in what could be more foreshadowing of a 3G launch. The Brit operator is cutting the cost of the 8GB iphone by 100 pounds to 169 quid (double that and you roughly get the U.S. price, thanks to the weak dollar).

The 3G phone is supposed to be announced in June, so beginning to clear inventory of older models makes sense now -- although, I note, there has been less talk of the great iPhone shortage in the U.S. this week.
