MILPITAS, Calif. -- IP Unity, a leader in carrier-grade media servers, application servers and real-time multimedia applications for IP and TDM networks, announced today that Dr. Keith Bhatia has been named to a new post, Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Bhatia will lead a new team within IP Unity, the Office of Technology. The team will focus on expanding leading edge technology solutions with IP Unity’s partners and customers.

“IP Unity’s market expansion is accelerating, and the company is at an upward inflection point in the breadth of our offerings,” stated Arun Sobti, IP Unity CEO and Chair. “Through this new office, we will effectively support our needs for forward-looking technology strategies, as well as our partners’ and customers’ expectations for taking technology leadership to the next level. Keith’s business breadth and depth in wireless services will be catalysts for rapid growth, and will be instrumental in sustaining and extending our architectural advantages, especially in the areas of media-rich platform functionality, multiservice architectures, IMS and SIP protocol implementation. He will be responsible for advancing our vision, roadmap and co-development across all of these fronts.”

“I look forward to leading the new Office of Technology at IP Unity,” emphasized Dr. Bhatia. “The CTO appointment is the culmination of many years of building relationships, managing rapidly-changing technologies and successfully bringing new technologies to market. It is a tremendously exciting time for us and for the industry. Our partners and customers look to us for coherent strategies within the media server, applications server, core applications and media resource function architectures. Having worked the domain of complementary and interoperable network elements with our partners and across the wireline, cable, fixed/mobile convergence and wireless customer networks we serve, I feel we can create and deliver on these strategies better than anyone else in our space.”

Dr. Bhatia has been the lead executive at IP Unity responsible for building the company’s extensive partner portfolio and the market successes associated with IP Unity’s relationships with Siemens, Cisco Systems, Nortel Networks, Motorola, Sonus, Sylantro and many others. He has also managed the company’s expansion into the Japanese carrier market, and has had a very prominent role in shaping the company’s strategies in wireless solutions, IMS implementation and video applications. He will continue in his role as Senior Vice President of Business Development, and will continue to work closely with partners and customers on strategic initiatives.

Dr. Bhatia will lead IP Unity’s efforts within the Multiservices Forum and BTS User Group and will share representation at the SIP Forum, International Packet Cable Consortium and IP Unity’s partner development programs with IP Unity’s Senior Vice President of Engineering, Dr. Piyush Modi, and IP Unity’s Vice President of Technology, Chanh Phung.
