FREMONT, Calif. -- Following months of beta testing inenterprise and carrier data centers, Inkra Networks today announced the Inkra 4000 and the Inkra 1500 Virtual Service Switches (VSS), the first products based on the company's Virtual Service Architecture (VSA).Inkra's new VSS products integrate the functionality of thousands of dedicated appliances and service elements with carrier-class hardware to deliver the economic benefits of logical IP service integration, backed by hardware-enforced, dedicated resources required for security, performance, and reliability. Together, the VSS and VSA allow data centers to: § Deploy custom, hardware-accelerated IP service suites, includingfirewalls, Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), load balancing, Secure SocketLayer (SSL) acceleration, and Web acceleration
§ Ensure that each application receives dedicated service processingresources, using Inkra's unique HardWallT technology
§ Meet stringent customer service-level agreements (SLAs) for performance, availability
§ Reduce operational expenses by 10X or more through automated, simplifiedservice provisioning and management
§ Provide zero-downtime service provisioning and service upgrades
§ Integrate existing appliances, if necessary, to lower the cost ofmigration or to satisfy particular customer requirements"IP service virtualization and automation are the logical next steps fortoday's data centers to reduce operational complexity and expense," saidSanjay Dhawan, president and CEO of Inkra Networks. "But these factors aloneare not sufficient-enterprise customers want guaranteed performance andservice availability. And data center operators need an easy way to migratefrom today's dedicated appliance model to IP service integration. With itsVSS hardware and VSA software, Inkra is the only equipment vendor that isdelivering on all these requirements for the new data center."Inkra Networks
