Leading shipping company Wilh. Wilhelmsen signs Infonet for global MPLS-enabled IP communications services, connecting up to 250 sites

OSLO, Norway and EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- Infonet Services Corporation (NYSE: IN), a leading provider of global communications services for multinationals, today announced it has signed a three-year contract with Wilh. Wilhelmsen ASA, a leading international supplier of maritime transport and shipping services, to build and maintain the company's global network. During the first year of service, Infonet will migrate Wilh. Wilhelmsen ASA's network from the recently installed Internet VPN solution to an MPLS based private IP infrastructure (Infonet's IP VPN Secure), further enhancing the connection of the company's hub sites in Oslo, Norway; Sydney, Australia; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; New Orleans, United States, and Port de Bouc in France. Wilh. Wilhelmsen ASA is a leading international supplier of maritime transport and associated services. Together with Swedish Wallenius AB, the group owns Wallenius Wilhelmsen Lines of both Norway and Sweden, and ranks today as one of Norway's leading centres of maritime expertise. Half of the Wilh. Wilhelmsen's workforce, which exceeds 13,000 people, sail on more than 250 ships. The remaining staff works at more than 200 offices in over 60 countries worldwide. According to the scope of this new agreement, both Infonet and Wilh. Wilhelmsen seek to serve up to 250 international sites, involving different business units. Based upon contract specifics, Infonet will develop Wilh. Wilhelmsen's global network, WilNet, in conjunction with the company's current and future business requirements. Infonet will optimise WilNet through flexible migration possibilities within the wide range of the company's data and voice services.
