HERNDON, Va. -- SAVVIS Communications (NASDAQ:SVVS), a global managed IP and managed hosting services provider, today announced it had been selected by ImageWare Systems, Inc. (AMEX:IW) to deliver managed IP VPN services connecting locations in the U.S. and Canada.ImageWare Systems, Inc. is a software company specializing in solutions for digital imaging, biometrics, law enforcement and secure credentials. Based in San Diego, the company utilizes its imaging technology to develop software used to create booking and investigative tools, smart and secure identification documents, and software for professional photographers.ImageWare will deploy the SAVVIS network to initially link ImageWare offices in the U.S. and Canada. It will enable them to seamlessly and securely communicate over a private IP VPN supporting a broad range of ImageWare business applications including secure data transfers, file sharing, corporate intranet, accounting, e-mail and videoconferencing.Key elements in the contract award were SAVVIS' ability to deploy the network in just 30 days, and the ability to add Canadian connectivity seamlessly. ImageWare Corporate IT Manager Gordon Sebby said: "We were up against a tight deadline and SAVVIS not only delivered, they exceeded our expectations.""Covad had bought our former network provider and announced plans to turn off the network in 60 days and migrate customers to Covad. Their IP VPN solution did not meet our needs, so we scrambled to identify a new provider and implement a new private network with secure Internet access. It needed to include local loops in place and the ability to provide service across international borders. SAVVIS fit the bill in every category," Sebby said.Savvis Communications Corp.
