Huawei launches new metro Ethernet switches, 3G handsets, and videoconferencing products at CommunicAsia 2006

SINGAPORE -- Huawei Technologies CoLtd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generationtelecommunications network solutions for operators around the world,today announced that it expects contract sales in Asia Pacific to growby 55 percent to hit USD2 billion in 2006.

The company announced that its contract sales in Asia, excluding China,Japan South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong, is expected to jump to morethan US$2 billion this year from $1.29 billion in 2005 as it continuesto focus on further deepening its relationship with existing andpotential key customers in the region.

Huawei has been steadily expanding its operations outside of China since1996 and has a presence in 13 countries across Asia Pacific, with itsproducts deployed in over 20 countries in the region. In 2005, thecompany's global international sales hit US$4.8 billion, which exceededdomestic sales for the first time, accounting for 57 percent of itstotal contract sales of US$8.2 billion. This trend is expected tocontinue as part of Huawei's internationalization strategy and AsiaPacific remains one of the most important markets as Huawei expandsglobally.

Global Launch of New Datacomm Products, 3G Handsets & Videoconferencing Solutions

At CommunicAsia 2006, Huawei rolled out the industry's firstcarrier-class metro Ethernet switches that will help operators betterserve their customers. Huawei's new Quidway CX series switchesrepresents a next generation in convergence and access switches wheresome of the key benefits include delivering increased protection,greater reliability, high-level of security and easy management inaddressing service requirements for NGN, 3G, broadband access, tripleplay and large account private line access over IP networks.

Huawei also introduced an integrated video and audio conferencing systemsolution designed specifically to enhance the business competitivenessof small and medium enterprises (SMBs). The new solutions includeHuawei's high definition group video terminals ViewPoint8066 andViewPoint8033, videophone ViewPoint8220 and ViewPoint8210, whichincorporate built-in Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) functions thatreduces operational costs for SMBs.

In the area of wireless terminals, Huawei launched the world's smallestHSDPA USB modem E220 and as an extension of its focus in the 3G market,is introducing seven 3G handsets - UMTS dual mode handsets U528, U526and CDMA handsets C2285, C2205, C2281, C5300, C3300. To date, Huaweisupplies 3G terminal products to customers in over 70 countriesincluding China, Sweden, Portugal, Russia, India, Brazil, UK, Italy,Spain, France and Hong Kong.

With the global launch of the Quidway CX suite, Huawei is now the firstvendor to provide carrier-class end-to-end solutions covering the corelayer, the convergence layer and the access layer in the industry.Huawei expects the Quidway CX to become a key infrastructure product forthe metro Ethernet market, which is expected to grow 27% annuallyreaching hit USD 7.7 billion by 2008 (Infonetics 2005Q3).

Huawei's Quidway CX series switches are a new generation of convergenceand access switches designed to address the carrier-class features ofthe metro Ethernet. Some of the key benefits include deliveringincreased protection, reliablity, a high-level of security and easymanagement in addressing service requirements for NGN, 3G, broadbandaccess, triple play and large account private line access over IPnetworks.

Huawei’s HSDPA modem - the E220 - is the latest edition to the company’s data card family which includes products such as the E620, E612 and E618 and has a number of key benefits.

  • It is a fashionable looking device that is just 8.9 cm in length.

  • Its fast transport rate of 3.6Mbps guarantees smooth Internet surfing and online video and audio streaming.

  • It supports multiple standards such as HSDPA, WCDMA, EDGE and GPRS.

  • External mini USB interface allows easy connection to a wide variety of end-user devices, such as laptops and desktops



Huawei also introduced two new UMTS dual mode handsets - U528, U526 and five CDMA 2000 1x mobile phones Handsets - C5300, C3300, C2285, C2281, C2205. Huawei’s stylish 3G handset range provides superb value to customers offering:
