LOS GATOS, Calif. -- Concurrent with the Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU - News) introduction today of the high performance, low cost VPN Firewall Brick(TM) 300, 500 and new encryption accelerator card (EAC), network security and flow classification market leader Hifn(TM) (Nasdaq: HIFN - News) revealed that security acceleration is provided by Hifn's security platform (HSP) and multiple Hifn security processors. The two new Lucent products are designed for secure web/application hosting services, large scale managed security services and remote access VPN services. The VPN Firewall Brick 500 is a high-performance, compact (1RU) and cost effective gigabit-rate integrated firewall/VPN/QoS gateway, delivering IPSec 3DES performance of 450 Mbps with the new Encryption Accelerator Card (EAC). "Lucent's new VPN Firewall Bricks provide a clear indication of what the future holds for the VPN arena -- higher bandwidth handling capabilities, ease of management, redundancy, greater performance and lower cost," says Doug Makishima, Hifn vice president of marketing. "It is very satisfying to see our security solutions incorporated in products that are the best of their kind in so many ways." "We chose to go with Hifn because they offer a complete package, with security solutions that include both security processors and software," said Camille Milfort, director of Lucent's Security Solutions, "and can be scaled to meet growing demands. Acceleration is performed by the EAC in all the key areas -- compression, encryption, authentication, private and public key." Hifn Inc.Lucent Technologies Inc.
