Google Lobbies FCC Again

9:20 AM -- Fresh from its lobbying success in getting the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to enforce open access rules on a major portion of spectrum in the 700 MHz auction, Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) has now pumped up the pressure on the FCC to throw open new spectrum to wireless broadband providers. (See Google Lauds 700 MHz as a Consumer 'Victory' and Verizon & AT&T Win 700 MHz Sweeps.)

Google wants the FCC to allow wireless broadband delivery in the so-called TV "white space" spectrum -- the unused portions of spectrum that are in between regulated TV spectrum signals. The Internet giant wants to enable the creation of a national, loosely regulated wireless broadband network.
