Fujitsu features new 26-port 10-GigE switch IC in Interop

LAS VEGAS -- Fujitsu Microelectronics America, Inc. (FMA) will feature its new 26-port 10Gbps Ethernet (10GbE) switch IC at the annual Interop Las Vegas conference, April 28 to May 2.

At booth 2101, Fujitsu Microelectronics will demonstrate the capabilities of its 10GbE switching technology by streaming video from a desktop PC to a notebook PC via the MB8AA3020 10GbE evaluation board. The computers are linked to ports on the board, with one PC acting as a VideoLAN (VLC) server to stream video images to the VLC client, running on another PC.

FMA also will showcase its new 26-port MB86C69RBC, the industry's highest density, lowest power and smallest footprint 10GbE switch IC. It features the direct support of 10Gbps serial interface for Ethernet backplane standardized as 802.3ap (KR) on all 26 ports, as well as direct SFP+ optical module support. Designed for data center and telecom equipment applications, the new switch IC integrates the PHYS and a complete set of Ethernet, Layer-2, Data-Center Bridging features, QoS and Layer-3 capabilities. Teak Technology's AZ-10GE Module, CorEdge Networks MCH Switch Board Two companies with leading-edge 10Gbps Ethernet products based on the Fujitsu switch IC technology will be featured in the Fujitsu booth. Teak Technologies will demonstrate its I3000 for IBM blade servers, which consists of an AZ-10GE switch module and AZ-10GE NICs, and connects blade servers with all four switch modules to deliver 400Gbps of low-latency, loss-free, high throughput to blade center servers. Built around the Fujitsu 10GbE switch ICs, the Teak Technologies AZ-10GE switching solutions transform data center networks into applications acceleration zones, by enabling congestion management features.

Also in the booth will be CorEdge Networks' MCH/10GbE switch board, which provides central management, network connectivity, and clocking for MicroTCA applications. The MCH demonstration is housed in CorEdge's 2U PicoTCA system, which integrates a MicroTCA carrier hub, power module, and up to four Advanced Mezzanine Cards. 10GbE streams are transferred between two of CorEdge's 10Gbs programmable AMCs through the MCH, using the Fujitsu 10GbE switch chip.

The Fujitsu WiMAX system-on-chip technology also will be represented at Interop. George Wu, director of marketing for the Wireless Business Group at Fujitsu Microelectronics, will join Johanna Till Johnson, founder of Nemertes Research, and representatives from Cisco Systems, Agito Networks, DeVitas and Strata8 to discuss fixed-to-mobile and mobile-to-mobile convergence.
