Flying Phones of Finland

If you've ever felt like tossing your mobile phone away, then those wacky, wacky Finns have a contest just for you.

Yep, live and direct from the land of the midnight sun, it’s the third annual phone-tossing contest, organized by Fennolingua, which is apparently a translation agency. This weekend's festivities saw a 31-year-old dairy worker from Finland establish a new world record, throwing a Nokia 5510 phone over 66 meters. "I was just thinking about throwing it as far as possible, and it was easy to throw it, because it wasn't my own phone," Petri Valta told AFP after setting the imposing record.

As well as the distance throwing contest, there is also a "freestyle" contest, wherein phone chuckers are judged on originality, style, and costume.

But none of that matters now. All we're saying is watch your back, Petri; Unstrung is after your crown. We're going outside right now to see how far we can throw our review phones. Next year, we'll be ready… just you wait.
