Flat-Rate Day

Was yesterday official flat-rate day in America? Verizon Wireless , AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T), and T-Mobile US Inc. all introduced new flat-rate monthly price packages all on the same day. Was there something about this particular Tuesday that made those three U.S. operators decide to offer flat-rate plans to their customers? (See AT&T Offers Flat Rate, T-Mob USA Offers Flat Rate, and VZW Offers Flat Rate.)

Verizon kicked off flate-rate day with an offer of $99.99 per month for unlimited calls to anyone in the U.S., including calls to landlines. The operator will also introduce new BroadbandAccess plans on March 2. AT&T and T-Mobile soon followed suit with their own flat-rate announcements. AT&T is offering unlimited domestic calls for $99.99 per month. T-Mobile is also offering unlimited domestic calls for $99.99 per month, and the operator threw unlimited messaging into the bargain -- just to be different.
