MUNICH -- Siemens has inked a contract with the Finnet Group covering the delivery of an ultra-fast fiber-optic network based on cutting-edge DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technology. This new technology increases the transfer capacity of the existing paths on all wavelengths to up to 40 Gbit/s. This is a major consideration for Finnet, as the constantly expanding number of broadband connections is leading to ever greater volumes of data in the core network.

Siemens will supply Finnet with the new DWDM-based fiber-optic network as a turnkey solution. The contract covers delivery of the Surpass hiT 7500 hardware and software, as well as their installation and introduction for the distance between Helsinki and Oulu. Another point in favor of the Siemens multi-service provisioning platform Surpass hiT 7500 is its centralized administration and control of the network, which enables the quick establishment of new connections and the detection of faults via a single system.
