SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Finisar Corporation (Nasdaq: FNSR), a technology leader in gigabit fiber optic solutions for high-speed data and telecommunication networks, announced today that it is introducing the FXES-1030, an inexpensive Bit Error Rate (BER) evaluation system for 10Gb/s optical transceivers. The FXES-1030 10Gb/s Transceiver Evaluation System is a platform that can be used to evaluate the performance of 10Gb/s optical transceiver modules. It is a stand-alone product with BERT functionality that provides a standard 300-pin XBI interface to connect to the 10Gb/s optical transceiver. It is priced at a fraction of the cost of traditional BERT systems, while providing many of the same functions.

“The FXES is an extremely useful test tool for networking system manufacturers currently designing 10Gb/s interfaces,” said Christian Urricariet, Product Marketing Manager at Finisar. “By leveraging our experience and strong technical capabilities in Test Instrumentation with our leading position as a 10Gb/s optical transceiver supplier, we are able to provide a much more cost-effective, easier-to-use alternative to the few other 10Gb/s test platforms currently in the market,” he added. Finisar announced the introduction of its FTRX serial 10Gb/s optical transceiver product line last February.
