NEW YORK -- CeBIT America -- Finisar Corporation (NASDAQ: FNSR), a provider of SAN and LAN Performance Tools, today announced the introduction of the next generation of Analysis and Monitoring solutions, Xgig, for Fibre Channel and Ethernet-based networks.

The first of the Xgig series introduced in May was the BERT (Bit Error Rate Tester). Now adding to the series of the Xgig suite is the first fully distributed, blade-based analysis architecture for 1Gb & 2Gb Fibre Channel and FCIP Storage Area Networks. This blade-based platform delivers support for full-duplex gigabit links while monitoring, validating and assisting with quick resolution of network infrastructure operations, providing effective instrumentation and reducing mean time to resolution.

Finisar's Xgig product line offers two platform options. Announced are the 4-blade rack mount or bench top chassis and the single blade chassis for portability to address field service needs. All platform offerings provide customers worldwide with superior performance analysis and high-speed capture capabilities, enabling them to maintain data integrity and network uptime.

The Xgig solution streamlines resolution of events that cause performance problems and enables customers to design, implement, test and evaluate Storage Area Networks (SANs) and their components. The Xgig Analyzer automates analysis of captured traces for errant behaviors and provides extensive performance analysis capabilities, getting quickly to the root of performance issues.
