QUEBEC CITY -- EXFO Electro-Optical Engineering Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSE: EXF) announced today it will launch the new OWA-9500 Optical Waveguide Analyzer at OFC 2001 in Anaheim, CA. This high-end instrument, which is designed for optical component manufacturers, represents the industry’s first commercial refractive index profiler for planar and arrayed waveguides. It provides refractive index measurements on glass and fused silica-based devices used in next-generation networks. EXFO’s Optical Waveguide Analyzer will be on display at Booth 2400 during OFC from March 19-21 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

“The optical component manufacturing industry is waiting for this instrument with great anticipation,” said Mario Larose, Vice-President of Marketing at EXFO. “The refractive index profile of next-generation optical devices like arrayed waveguides is a critical parameter to measure in order to control and optimize the manufacturing process. With this new Optical Waveguide Analyzer, manufacturers now have a quick and easy way to perform these measurements.”
