NEW YORK -- Sidera Networks, a premier provider of fiber optic-based network solutions, announced today the launch of its E-Connect Hub Service in several major metropolitan locations. Sidera Network's E-Connect Hubs use External Network-to-Network Interface (ENNI), a standards-based Ethernet interconnection that allows disparate carrier networks to connect seamlessly to Sidera's fiber-based network to ensure high quality services to their customers.

Sidera's E-Connect Hubs are strategically located throughout its footprint. Starting with ten initial access points including hubs in Boston, Chicago, New York, Newark, Philadelphia, Toronto and Washington, DC, the service provides a cost-effective and efficient method for domestic and international carriers to expand their reach leveraging Sidera's network. Sidera plans to add additional access points throughout the year.

Sidera Networks' ENNI interconnection is MEF 26-compliant and is available in both 1 GbE and 10 GbE ports. The MEF 26 ENNI standard defines interface and service attributes necessary for multiple providers to deliver Carrier Ethernet services on a global basis. By delivering services through ENNI, Sidera Networks is able to preserve and enhance the overall protection, priority, and quality of service parameters of each frame being passed across the network.

"Our E-Connect Hubs allow service providers to streamline interconnect operations, cost effectively deploy new services, quickly reach new markets and lower the overall costs and time spent managing and turning up services," said Mike Sicoli, CEO, Sidera Networks. "ENNI is more than just a technical specification; it has become the driver for a new global wholesale Ethernet market."
